“East Asian Brush Landscape Painting”

Wei-Ting Chuang holds an MFA degree from Taiwan and specializes in East Asian brush painting and calligraphy. With over 20 years of teaching experience and numerous awards for her students’ artwork, Wei-Ting conducts art classes from her studio in Pleasanton, sharing her heartfelt impressions of nature through various media. Her art reflects the influence of local culture and nature in California since she moved to California in 2017, aiming to bring a calming and comforting vision of nature to others. PAL Presents: A One Day Painting Workshop “Joy of Painting with Watercolors”
Featuring: Meghana Mitragotri
July 8, 2023, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM at the Amador Recreation Center, Black Avenue, Pleasanton, CA
Watercolors are an ancient form of painting identified by their extreme delicacy and finesse in style and presentation. Meghana Mitragotri firmly believes and encourages eager art explorers to try this medium which she describes as both flexible and forgiving.
Welcome to a fun day of learning techniques, tips, and tricks of this dainty form using unique and unconventional methods and tools. All participants are guaranteed to leave with a completed watercolor painting and greeting card, as they follow a time-bound approach in working with this medium.
Meghana’s inspirations are typically nature-centric including quaint country sides, beautiful blossoms and birds. Her draw to the medium is the versatility of the water-based paints which highlight a sense of purity and serenity in the finished work. The focal point of her 30-year association with watercolors includes masterful use of colors and light to portray the magnificence of her subjects. With numerous showcases and accolades to her credit, Meghana’s true passion lies in demonstrating and teaching this soulful artform to interested learners.

Figure Drawing Workshop, Friday mornings, 9:30 to 12:30, Bothwell Arts Center, Livermore. No instructor. Open to all artists over 18, under 18 with parental permission in writing. Professional models are from the Bay Area Models Guild and pose mostly nude, but sometimes with costumes or props. We average about 5 female models to 1 male, all different body types and ages. We start off with gestures, then two 10 minutes poses, then 20 minute poses (unless we love it and we have the model do it again). We do gestures and then one long pose on the last Friday of the month. Tables, chairs, drawing boards and table easels are provided. Bring your own standing easel and drawing/painting materials. Only odorless turpenoid please. Soft music is played. Refreshments are served.
