Preparing for Evening – Black and White Handtinted Photograph
Lisa Rigge has been involved with photography since the early 1980’s. Her schooling includes two years at the M.I.T. B & W Photography Lab in Cambridge, MA, photography and art courses at Chabot Community College in Hayward, CA, and workshops through the University of California, Santa Cruz and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, New Mexico. She has studied with many nationally known photographers, among whom are Kate Jordahl, Al Weber, Holly Roberts, Kathleen Carr, Mark Citret and Debra Fleming Caffrey.
Lisa began to show her work in the late 1980’s in both group and juried shows. In the early 1990’s, she began to hand tint black & white photographs with photo oils and pencils.She prints her own black & white photographs in the darkroom she shares at home with her husband, Ron. She continues to work on her hand-tinted series of photographs, recently hand-tinting images of old ghost towns in the West.
Lisa teaches hand tinting photography through Las Positas Community College and gives private lessons at her home in Pleasanton, CA.
