“A Little Bird Told Me So” by Adriane Dedic

I’ve been creating art ever since I was a child. In 3rd grade I wrote a paragraph about what I wanted to be when I grew up…a fashion designer.  I studied design at the University of Cincinnati and had a career that began as a fashion designer and illustrator and then evolved into technical illustration, advertising design, publication design, and marketing communications.

My love of drawing the human figure is almost always front and center in my art which includes etching, Japanese wood block prints, monoprints, mixed media and currently fabric collage. Galleries across the US have exhibited my art and many pieces have received prestigious awards.

People often think my fabric art is a painting until they get very close and see tiny layers of fabric forming the design. You can see my recent fabric collage-art quilt, “Eve In the Garden Of Persimmons In Winter” in the current de Young Museum exhibit featuring Bay Area artists.

I also print my favorite designs on silky scarves, tote bags, and pillow covers. I hope you can visit my Artist Open Studio Dec. 1, 2, 3 as part of the Annual Newark Artists Open Studios. More details on my website.
