Don has traveled the world with aviation, and has been inspired by all the cultures, foods and beauty around the globe. Don has been creating all his life. From drawing cars at a young age and having aspirations to be an automotive designer to being introduced to Graphic Design in high school which then led to an Advertising major at San Jose State University. Don then went in a different direction and had a thirty-five year career in Aviation. During his extensive travels over the years he often took along his camera, in 2015 he decided to take his passion for photography seriously. Beyond travel, his lifelong passions for both the grace of automotive design and being in the kitchen cooking are evident in his respective series on those subjects.
In 2015, Don began exhibiting publicly, and has since received several awards.
Don got his art education from the Oakland Public Schools, Laney College, San Jose State, ongoing lectures, classes and workshops from California artists. Don’s Graphic Design and Art teachers that have been instrumental in his artistic development are Phil Gronquist, Robert Burridge, Tim Schaible and most recently Michael Alan Ross.
Born and raised in Oakland, California. He now lives with his wife, Donna, in Castro Valley, California.
