Board and Volunteer Position Descriptions

Dear PAL member,

Thank you for considering becoming part of our PAL Board team!  There are many different parts to PAL so we are sure you’ll have a skill that we could use!    You can start as slow or as fast as you want, and we always extend as much help and training as we can so that our new members don’t feel overwhelmed. 

Here are the general descriptions of PAL’s current open Board positions:

  1. Hospitality Chairperson:  Provides an atmosphere of friendliness and informality at all PAL events and meetings.  Introduces members and welcomes guests.  Provides name tags for each general meeting, and exhibit reception.  Oversees refreshments for general meetings. (Time required:  a few hours every month)
  1. Workshops Chairperson: Arranges workshops as needed to benefit the members.  Arranges facilities through the City of Pleasanton Recreation Department when necessary.  (Time required:  Three to four hours per month. When two- or three-day workshops are active, daily monitoring is required)

 

  1. Program Coordinator Chairperson:  Provides PAL membership with a program consisting of lectures, demonstrations and/or discussions on any subject relating to the arts for each regular general meeting.  Maintains an appropriate file of all programs to date. (Time required:  Four to five hours each month)

 

  1. PAL’s Pals Show Chairperson(s):  Is the single point of contact that communicates with all the artists in the show.  Fort his show, the artists are all school aged children in the Tri-Valley area.  Writes the show prospectus in coordination with the PAL management team which establishes the show dates, number of awards, entry fee, etc.  Coordinates with volunteer members to organize and supervise the show gallery space, the collection and hanging of the art for the show which is held at the Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton. (Time required:  five to six hours per month leading up to the show and eight to ten hours the weekend of the show as daily monitoring is required)

 

  1. Any other position deemed necessary to effectively complete PAL’s business.
