PAL 2 Day Workshop – Painting an Expressive Still Life in Oil or Acrylic by Oil Painter, Eric Jacobsen
Saturday-Sunday, June 24 – 25 9:30 am to 4:30 pm – At the Firehouse Art Center – 4444 Railroad Avenue, Pleasanton, CA 94566
The workshop fee is $299 early bird before June 15, 2017 or $310 after that.
Loosen up your style and paint expressive still lifes. Learn the craft of setting up a still life by focusing on overall design, appropriate lighting, material selection and placement. Further enhance your work by paying attention to composition, values, temperature and paint quality. We will cover composition, color, edges and the use of expressive brush strokes to give life and energy to your painting. The atmosphere will be informal and friendly so come and enjoy your time painting a still life. Beginners to advanced students are welcome.
Eric Jacobsen received his training at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, CT. While at the Academy he was introduced to scores of great artists work. Eric fell in love with the Russian painters; the most influential and inspiring work by Isaac Levitan, Fedor Zakharov and Valerian Formozov. Eric feels that their work is filled with such honesty, joy and raw beauty. Eric deliberately steers clear of rendering and high detail in favor of large simple shapes with minimal detail. His goal is to engage the viewer and allow him/her to interact with the painting rather than spell out every detail.
