In Memoriam

Barbara Van Slyke, PAL past president and arts promoter, passed away on January 1, 2010, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 92. An award-winning painter and fibre artist, she worked hard to promote the construction of the Black Avenue Cultural Arts Building and served for years on the Senior Center Planning Task Force. She started the very popular Peddler Shoppe there and supplied it with her beautiful handmade jewelry and wearable fiber art. She was active in many activities over the years and leaves a legacy in the arts in Pleasanton.
