John West
Watercolor/Oils/Pencil
A full-time businessman but always a painter! His mother organized
a "one boy show" at their church when he was an early
teen to display his watercolor paintings and India ink drawings.
Throughout his education and career he pursued art through classroom
study, private lessons, workshops, instructional books, and lots
of experimentation with oil, acrylic, and watercolor medium in a
wide range of styles and subject matter including landscapes, portraits,
and still life. His education includes a BA and MBA from Augsburg
College in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Now focused on watercolor, each painting is a study of light shining
through, around, and reflecting from many kinds of objects using
an impressionistic style ranging from fairly realistic to very loose.
While occasionally selling his work, he painted for enjoyment and
generally distributes art as gifts. Having traveled extensively on
business, many paintings are of scenes from around the world. John
is a member of the Livermore Art Association and the Pleasanton Art
League. |
