Nancy Storch
Watercolor/Pastel/Oil/Oil Paintstick on Fabric

Art has always been a major part of Nancy's life. Early recognition as a child artist provided her with encouragement to continue, and ultimately led to successes in applying artistic creativity and problem-solving to workplace and home projects. She majored in both mathematics and art at the University of Washington, and continued her art education at San Francisco Art Institute, California College of the Arts, and master workshops. Nancy is now retired from a satisfying career in software engineering that included computer graphics and user interface design. She lives in the Tri-Valley, where she paints, teaches art and supports the local art community.

Nancy is equally comfortable painting realistically or abstractly. While painting, she likes to use her visualization skills in combination with imagination and sensitivity, to try to get beneath the surface of what she sees. The result may go beyond the expected. Abstract expressionism can be seen in some of her landscapes, portraits and images of inner visions. She uses many different media, sometimes in combination, and continues to experiment with new materials and techniques.

Nancy delights in sharing her knowledge and experience through teaching. Her classes in drawing and painting are tailored for children and adults. Recently she has added classes in painting on fabric. Mostly she teaches at her Pleasanton studio, and sometimes at Las Positas Community Education.
