After receiving her Masters in Industrial Design from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Sukanya Sarkar started her career as a government officer in India. However, the lust to learn more in life made her break norms, travel the world and discover the artist in her.

Continually touched by the beauty of nature, need for peace, love and relaxation in the world, Sukanya's subjects vary from flowers, foliage, human emotions, Krishna (god of love), Ganesha (god of prosperity), Buddha, abstract forms and many more. Just like her subjects, her styles and medium vary from painting to painting. She believes that reason is powerless in the expression through art.

Having inherited the rich cultural heritage from Bengal (East of India), she is inspired by Jamini Roy's (19th century painter of Bengal school) bold, colorful paintings and intense poetry of 19th century Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Sukanya visualizes through realism and expresses through abstraction. Her ethno-contemporary style has vibrant reflection of joie de vivre, representing true globalization by bringing east to west.

She promotes her art and other talents through her web site, www.aynakus.com. The name Aynakus is the interpretation of two ways of spreading light, one, to be the candle and two, to be the mirror which reflects it. 'Aynakus', which is the reverse (mirror image) of 'Sukanya' explains it all.

Sukanya has traveled world-wide, which brings a visual diversity to her work. Her interest in photography and digital design manifest in her corporate life as a Visual Designer for user interfaces for software companies.
