Pat Smith
Watercolor
In 1969, Pat Smith moved to Pleasanton with her husband Jack and her twin daughters.
It was in this picturesque valley and through the encouragement of her Aunt
Kathleen Smith, herself an accomplished artist, that Pat began painting with
Ann Johnson and a group of local artists that was to become the Valley Artists.
Pat was a founding member and Past President. Now Pat is the President of the
Pleasanton Art League and their Show Chairperson.
Pat began painting in oils, but was introduced to watercolors by
Jade Fon; she found this medium perfect for her artistic style. She
continued to study with Jade throughout his lifetime and still belongs
to the Jade Fon Saturday Painters. She attended the watercolor workshops
at Asilomar and now attends the Yosemite workshops every year. This
has allowed her to study with such nationally recognized artists
as Millard Sheets, Thomas Layton, Jane Burnham, Jerry Brommer, Rusty
Walker and Carolyn Lord.
Pat's art affiliations include the Pleasanton Art League, Livermore
Art Association and California Watercolor Association. Pat is an
exhibiting member of the Livermore Art Association Gallery in the
Carnegie Building, Livermore. |
