Elena Morris
Oil/Pastel/Watercolor
"I have been a professional artist for 20 years. My primary medium is oil. However,
I like to work with pastel and watercolor occasionally. My classical art skills
reflect the Russian School of Oil Painting where I studied for many years.
It is a school where the realism and impressionism live and work in chorus,
a style that combines a powerful realistic involvement with the soft, lyrical
looseness of impressionism. Viewing my work one gets a chance to understand
painting as such and to perceive its deep essence.
"I love to express the beauty I see in nature, cityscapes, people
and simple everyday objects. My interests in subject matter are very
diversified. The world composed of color, light and air is the creative
concept of a painter like me, my own original interpretation of our
reality. I have been blessed with the ability to transmit the visible
accurately and with care, always striving to capture the beauty within
each moment of observation.
"Painting has trained me to see beautiful things everywhere. With
my paintings I can bring the viewer closer to the hidden beauty in
all of my subjects and I never lack for inspiration. A paintbrush
saturated with colorful substance, and a canvas or paper surface,
which receives its touch — these are the instruments, which
help me express my attitude toward the world in the most complete
and creative way I know how."
