Carolyn Lord
Watercolor

Carolyn Lord is a 1978 graduate of Principia College in Elsah, IL. Trained in plein air tradition, she studied under California Regionalist painters Rex Brandt, James Green, George Post, Millard Sheets, Robert E. Wood and Milford Zornes. Carolyn has traveled to Italy, Denmark, England, Brasil, French Polynesia and in the Western United States. The greatest body of work is of Livermore — landscapes, architecture and gardens.

Carolyn is an Artist Member of the California Art Club and the National Watercolor Society. She has participated in plein air events in San Juan Capistrano, Carmel, Laguna and San Luis Obispo. She is annually invited to exhibit in Maynard Dixon Country, Mt. Carmel and Utah. American Artist, USArt, Watercolor and Watercolor Magic magazines have published articles on Carolyn's painting — how she develops her watercolors and her unconventional use of brushes, painting trips, figure and portrait work, her role in organizing a political protest paint-out and personal career observations.

Carolyn says, "My paintings can be subtle, direct or whimsical, of what ever I feel is important to share. Usually it's a record of visual beauty, sometimes I hint at ideas and concepts that are revealed in the painting or in the title."
