Carolyn Lord
Watercolor
Carolyn Lord is a 1978 graduate of Principia College in Elsah, IL. Trained
in plein air tradition, she studied under California Regionalist painters Rex
Brandt, James Green, George Post, Millard Sheets, Robert E. Wood and Milford
Zornes. Carolyn has traveled to Italy, Denmark, England, Brasil, French Polynesia
and in the Western United States. The greatest body of work is of Livermore
— landscapes, architecture and gardens.
Carolyn is an Artist Member of the California Art Club and the
National Watercolor Society. She has participated in plein air events
in San Juan Capistrano, Carmel, Laguna and San Luis Obispo. She is
annually invited to exhibit in Maynard Dixon Country, Mt. Carmel
and Utah. American Artist, USArt, Watercolor and Watercolor
Magic magazines have published articles on Carolyn's
painting — how she develops her watercolors and her unconventional
use of brushes, painting trips, figure and portrait work, her role
in organizing a political protest paint-out and personal career
observations.
Carolyn says, "My paintings can be subtle, direct or whimsical,
of what ever I feel is important to share. Usually it's a record
of visual beauty, sometimes I hint at ideas and concepts that are
revealed in the painting or in the title." |
