Oils/Charcoal/Colored Pencil
My love affair with art has continuously been a part of my life;
the creative process forms a core of who I am and who I want to be. I
work both figuratively and abstractly, and I find that alternating
between the two styles enhances each. My figurative work involves
simplified or abstract backgrounds, in order to create a sense of
timelessness — focusing on the emotion and internal space of the
subject through pose and color choice. My abstract work is
a play of color and textures, finding beauty in the composition that
emerges — a more visceral, raw emotional outcome in comparison
to my figurative work. Creation of depth and attention to surface
texture is important throughout all of my work.
I am currently working towards an MFA degree at the Academy of Art
University in San Francisco, and expect to graduate in the spring
of 2008. |
