"My love affair with art has continuously been a part of my life;
the creative process forms a core of who I am and who I want to be.
I work both figuratively and abstractly, and I find that alternating
between the two styles enhances each. My figurative work involves
simplified or abstract backgrounds, in order to create a sense of
timelessness — focusing on the emotion and internal space of
the subject through pose and color choice. My abstract work is
a play of color and textures, finding beauty in the composition that
emerges — a more visceral, raw emotional outcome in comparison
to my figurative work. Creation of depth and attention to surface
texture is important throughout all of my work.
"I am currently working towards an MFA degree at the Academy of
Art University in San Francisco, and expect to graduate in the spring
of 2008." |
