Kathleen Keil Hill
Oils/Colored Pencil

If art begins with inspiration, then animals are what inspire my art!

For me, it is my mission to capture the life essence of every animal I paint. To take the opportunity to "freeze frame" that unique being so that my audience can reach out and almost feel the softness of feather or fur, the dampness of a nose or tongue, to take in the beauty without being disturbed by movement. I want to celebrate their presence in our world, their simplicity and complexity. They are each as different as a snowflake and that is what is most important for me to capture in a portrait.

The comfort and joy they bring is unconditional. It gives me great satisfaction to be able to capture their spirit in commissioned portraits. I enjoy working with my clients and their "significant animals," hear the funny stories, see the relationship first hand, and then go back to the studio and translate all of the information and feelings into art.

I am truly blessed to be able to live my two, true passions — animals and art!
