"To my mind, art is a conversation between myself and something I seek to understand more fully. My work begins with exploratory drawing with the use of different tools, mono printing, and various media. I often step away from literal interpretation through this process. How things visually relate to each other, and how we manipulate and change things while passing through our environment is a constant fascination. These mixed media drawings will often lead to paintings that share my experiences. These are on a relatively large scale, allowing me to create surfaces that draw the viewers in and encourage their own interpretations."

Valerie Daft emigrated here from Scotland. Her qualifications include a BA in Fine Art with a specialization in painting (with distinction), an HNC in Fine Art, and a City and Guilds certificate in Art and Design.
