Linda Beach
Pastels
For artist and teacher Linda Beach, it was a natural progression
from using chalk as a teacher to her current focus of painting landscapes
in soft pastel. After twelve years as a K-8 art specialist, Linda
has retired from public school teaching and is now an instructor
in drawing for children and adult painting for recreation in Livermore,
CA. She enjoys the challenge of teaching and the perspective that
it brings to her own art.
A native of Cohasset, Massachusetts, Linda studied art history and
studio art at Wilson College, PA where she received her B.A. and
Teaching Credential. She later earned her M.S. in Art Education at
Central Connecticut State University. Linda has studied a variety
of media including black and white darkroom photography in locations
such as Canyon Road in Santa Fe and the School of the Museum of Fine
Arts Boston.
In workshops with Sylvia Miller in plein-air watercolor and Clark
Mitchell, Claire Verbiest and Terri Ford in pastel, Linda continues
to seek new methods for her own expression in landscape. Her work
often depicts a sense of distance and quiet contemplation using natural
color.
Linda Beach is an active board member of both the Livermore and
Pleasanton Art Leagues and an associate member of the Pastel Society
of the West Coast. Her work has been exhibited in group and juried
shows in the San Francisco Bay Area and at Wilson College. |
